"Demat aur Trading account same hai kya?" No. They are different, and you need both to buy and sell stocks.

The Simple Difference

Like shopping on Amazon:

  • Trading Account = Amazon website where you place orders
  • Demat Account = Warehouse where delivered items are stored

Trading Account

Used to place buy/sell orders on NSE/BSE. Opened with a stockbroker.

Demat Account

Holds the shares electronically. Opened with a Depository Participant (usually same broker). Stored with NSDL or CDSL.
