Options Trading Course in Coimbatore

A great deal of wealth in this city sits in the shares of listed companies built here. Families around RS Puram and Avinashi Road who founded them, long-serving employees who were given stock, and investors who bought into businesses they could see from their own streets — many of them holding one or two names that make up most of what they own.

Nearly all options education is aimed at somebody wanting to speculate. This page is about the opposite use, which is the one that actually fits most of the people here.

Options as insurance on a holding you will not sell

Consider somebody whose shares in a single company represent most of their wealth. They may not want to sell — the business is family, the gain would create a large tax bill, the holding carries a board seat, or they simply believe in it. And yet a single bad year for that one company would change their family's position more than any other event.

That is precisely the situation derivatives were designed for. Not speculation, but transferring a specific risk you do not want to carry while keeping the asset you do.

The tools are straightforward in principle. A protective put sets a floor below which further falls no longer cost you, in exchange for a premium. A collar pays for that floor by selling away some upside: buy a put below the current price, sell a call option above it, and the premium from one offsets the cost of the other. The holding is now protected against a serious fall and capped at a level you chose, for little or no upfront cost.

Neither is free in the sense that matters. The put costs premium every time it is renewed; the collar gives up the large rally you might otherwise have kept. The question is always whether that cost is worth paying for the specific risk you are removing, and for a concentrated holding facing a known uncertain period, it frequently is.

What makes this different from everything else in options is the mindset. You are not trying to make money from the position. You are trying to make a bad outcome survivable, and you judge success by what did not happen.

The constraints that decide whether you can do it at all

Several practical limits apply before any of the above is available, and some of them are absolute.

If you are a promoter, director or designated employee, check the insider rules first. The regulations that govern dealing in your own company's shares generally prohibit people in those positions from taking derivative positions in that company altogether, separately from any trading window. For many of the families this page describes, the hedge simply is not permitted on their own company's shares. The company's compliance officer is the person to ask, before anything else.

The company must have derivatives at all. Only a limited list of stocks have exchange-traded options. Many listed businesses, including smaller ones, are not on it. If your holding is not, a direct hedge does not exist and the conversation is about reducing concentration instead.

Lot size sets the minimum. Options cover a fixed quantity of shares. A holding smaller than one lot cannot be hedged precisely, and a holding that is not a multiple of the lot leaves some shares uncovered or some hedge unmatched.

Stock options settle by delivery. An in-the-money position held to expiry turns into an actual transfer of shares. For a collar, a sold call option finishing in the money means delivering shares you intended to keep, unless the position is managed before expiry.

Tax treatment differs between the legs. Gains and losses on the options are generally treated as business income, while the shares themselves fall under capital gains. A hedge that works economically can look very different on a tax return, and that is worth understanding before you begin.

What the ten modules teach, weighted for a holder

Futures, Options & Derivatives Mastery is structured so that nothing is introduced before you can judge what it can cost you. For somebody here to protect a holding, some modules matter far more than others.

Contracts and settlement come first — strike, expiry, lot size, and the delivery obligation on single-stock contracts, which is the detail most likely to surprise a holder running a collar.

Margin is next, including why a sold call option against shares you own is treated differently when the shares are pledged, and what happens when the requirement moves.

The Greeks and the option chain explain how a hedge behaves as the price and time change, and how to judge whether a given strike is liquid enough to use at all.

Structures follow, each introduced with its worst case: the protective put, the covered call, the collar, spreads. For this audience, these three defensive structures are the core of the course rather than a side section.

Then option selling, expiry behaviour, and sizing — the last of which, for a hedger, becomes the question of how much of the holding to protect and for how long.

Recorded, with WhatsApp support, in a Hindi-English mix, and nothing scheduled against a working week at the business.

Fees, and when this is the wrong course

Futures, Options & Derivatives Mastery costs Rs 10,000 against an MRP of Rs 23,000. Paid once, permanent access, every later update included, enrolment at study.thefinbaba.com. There is no classroom in Coimbatore.

This is the wrong course if your holding has no listed options — the useful conversation then is about reducing concentration, which the beginners programme at Rs 2,500 covers under risk and position sizing. It is also the wrong course if you are a promoter or designated person hoping to hedge your own company's shares, because the rules will very likely not allow it.

And it is the wrong course if you want positions to copy. There is no tips group, no signal service and no morning message on this site, and we manage nobody's money.

No assured or guaranteed return is promised anywhere on this site. A hedge limits a loss at a cost; it does not remove risk, and options positions themselves can lose more than expected if they are not understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fee for the options trading course in Coimbatore?

Rs 10,000 against an MRP of Rs 23,000. The same programme and price nationally, with no city variant. One payment, permanent access, all future updates, and a free WhatsApp demo before you commit.

Can I use options to protect shares I do not want to sell?

Yes, if the company has listed options and you are permitted to trade them. A protective put sets a floor for a premium; a collar pays for that floor by giving up some upside. Both are designed for exactly this situation.

I am from the promoter family. Can I hedge our company's shares?

Very likely not. Insider trading rules generally prohibit promoters, directors and designated persons from taking derivative positions in their own company's shares. Ask the company's compliance officer before doing anything.

What if my company's shares have no options?

Then a direct hedge does not exist. The practical alternative is reducing concentration over time, which is a question of position sizing and tax planning rather than derivatives.

Are there classroom batches in Coimbatore?

No. Everything is recorded with WhatsApp support and a live session when a topic needs walking through, so a busy month at the business costs nothing but time.
